We are proud that our team of teachers and staff are Lao.

As the school has grown so have their skills. We believe that the training and development of our teachers is as important as our teaching of students.

Homeland Director

The position of Homeland Director was created in the very earliest days of LEOT when we were contacted by a young and dynamic Lao man with a real desire to help disadvantaged students achieve their potential.
The young man that offered his help in 2006 was Teng, he is still working tirelessly to help our many students.
Without his knowledge, enthusiasm and courage our journey would have been impossible.

Operations Director

It’s now a very long time since a very nervous young man became a LEOT scholarship student. He was successful with his studies and following graduation joined LEOT as our Office Manager.
Four years on, Niew has matured into a real all rounder taking on many responsibilities. In October 2015 he took another giant step forward when he was appointed as Assistant to our School Director. Further advancement took place as LEOT expanded and we took on the responsibility of the sewing school and the building of rural schools. The Covid pandemic resulted in Niew becoming our operations director.

Teachers

Our teachers are young Lao graduates. LEOT provided them with their first jobs. Our qualified visiting volunteers assist with mentoring and training.
Our team leader and Senior Teacher is Thong. Having been LEOT’s very first scholarship student his life has progressed rapidly from student to teacher then to husband and father.
Thong is supported by our dynamic group of five teachers, two of which have also enjoyed the benefits of a LEOT scholarship.

Dad

Dad comes from our local community. He was appointed as our security man on completion of the building.
Mum and Dad, or a member of their family, look after the school and at least one of them sleeps at the school every night.
