LEOT TEACHER CHANDY CAN SEE IN THE DARK

Chandy and his family were delighted when he graduated last summer and started his first job as an English teacher at LEOT. It was with the greatest excitement that Chandy told us that all his family were moving to Luang Prabang. We had no idea that this meant they were taking down their traditional Hmong house and putting it in a truck together with furniture, chickens and children for the long drive south. They arrived in one of the coldest winters on record and lived in a tent for over a month while they rebuilt their home.

When we visited Chandy and his extended family we discovered that they had no services. Today LEOT volunteer Charlie and team member Niew set off to Chandy’s house to install solar power. It took no time at all before Charlie and Niew installed the solar panel on the hot tin roof. Work then moved inside when the team installed the controller together with lights and switches
