Background Submission
Sisavath completed a 6 month course at the Luang Prabang Teachers Training School in 2006. She wanted to go to university, but her family is without the financial resources to be able to do this. Sisavath currently teaches elementary level school in the countryside of Luang Prabang but earns very little. This is very difficult for her as she is unable to support herself or contribute to the family's income. Her parents earn a subsistence living by growing rice crops and vegetables. Sisavath would like to major in teaching mathematics. Once finished her desire is to return to teach in the countryside to continue to help children in rural communities to obtain a good education. She feels that by providing the rural poor with equal opportunities to learn and improve their knowledge will contribute more equitably to the development of Laos.
