We started supporting community projects in 2013. We have always visited the villages as they are the homes of our students. Many are very rural, set by rivers or on hillsides and are frequently inaccessible in the wet season.

Housing is basic and many do not have clean water or electricity. Most villages have a small school with the children having to travel to find a secondary school. Education is not expensive but if you have many children and are a farmer it is unaffordable.

Our first projects were very small as we carried the many gifts of clothing made by the ladies of Heath & Reach WI to the village children. Their generosity has now given jumpers to over three thousand children.

In the last two years we have focused our work on helping deliver emergency aid and supporting village projects centred on the provision of water, electricity and school repairs.
The pace and demand for our help is increasing as so many schools have no money for repairs and the purchase of books.

Our model is to visit a village to assess need and then start with a small project. We provide the materials and the community provides the labour. As we build understanding we develop our projects further in terms of size and commitment. We always follow up on projects to check on their success. This allows us to learn from experience and improve the delivery of future projects.

All our projects are funded by donations from our partners or supporters. Our support is always given directly to communities to make sure nothing is wasted. With the help of our supporters we plan to do much more in the future.
