It’s been another busy year at the LEOT School in Luang Prabang with our very busy English classes in the evenings and additional classes at weekends. We are unique as all our classes are free for disadvantaged students. We are proud to have continued our Dreamcatcher career development classes and Hospitality English classes for students wishing to work in tourism. Its lovely to share a day with the LEOT team and their families. Yesterday, 1st March, was special when we visited Kuangsi. The day started with a short visit to Phounsouk Gardens before arriving at Kuangsi. Our first visit was to see the Free the Bears Project. Meet GDG. LEOT is proud to announce a new partnership with the Global Development Group a foundation based in Australia. GDG is also registered in America, Great Britain and New Zealand providing LEOT donors with a method of making donations in their own countries for LEOT projects in Laos, and at the same time receiving tax relief on their donations. LEOT also plans to develop its marketing strategy with the support of GDG to increase the impact of its work in Laos.

Our wonderful day started at 9 am when the LEOT team were welcomed to DOES for our MOU Ceremony. The proceedings began with a brief introduction to the LEOT project and its work, followed by speeches from the LEOT School Director and the Director of Education and Sport. The ceremony only lasted for a little over half an hour and permits us to work in Laos for a further three years. Building a rural school is challenging, particularly during the monsoon season. Jok is a remote village accessed by a new dirt road. Travelling from the ferry, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the village. Our project was to replace the old school in a new position.
